Getting to Batam Island

Batam has an international airport, it is the Hang Nadim International Airport (BTH). Nearly all flights are domestic where you can get direct connections to Bandung, Dumai, Jakarta, Jambi, Medan, Padang, Palembang, Pangkalpinang, Pekanbaru, Pontianak and Surabaya.

The main ports of Batam are Harbour Bay (Batu Ampar), Batam Centre, Sekupang, Waterfront City, Nongsapura and Telaga Punggur. All Batam ports are visa-free and visa-on-arrival port of entry. Harbour Bay is now the main international ferry port for those heading for Nagoya. Batam Centre Ferry Terminal has the most frequent ferry connection with Singapore and Johor Bahru, Johor. Sekupang has connection with ferries from Singapore, domestic connection to Sumatra mainland and Karimun Islands. Waterfront City has connection to some adjacent resorts, so do Nongsapuri. Telaga Punggur, the main ferry terminal for boats to and from Bintan.
